We source premium materials directly from the best manufacturers, allowing us to drive down the cost and kick up the speed of traditional custom framing. Our mouldings are premium wood, our acrylic is cut using the newest technology, and every single piece is assembled and inspected by a real live person, right here in the U.S. We build every frame in our studio, empowering our team of designers, craftspeople and technicians to control the framing process every step of the way. The result? A beautifully-framed piece of the highest quality in the industry. Totally custom. And made just for you.

Our frame mouldings are made of solid wood with premium finishes (foil, veneer, gesso, etc.). We custom cut and join each piece of moulding just to fit your art, so each frame is truly one of a kind.

We use acid-free mat board to separate your art from the moulding and acrylic. After you select a mat color on our site or app, our designers actually choose from about a dozen shades of each (12 whites, 12 off whites, you get the idea) to find the one that best complements your art. A computerized vector mat cutter cuts each mat to fit your work perfectly. Mats are 2.5" or 3" wide, depending on the size of your art.

We mount your art on acid-free foam core backing, which keeps the work smooth and supported. We dry mount most pieces using a reversible heat activation process, but we also hinge mount smaller original works, and float mount pieces upon request (mounting them to 3/16” foam core that sits on top of a mat, adding a dramatic sense of depth). If you’re framing a textile, jersey, or object, our team will actually hand sew it to a mat board for mounting.

We use acrylic as glazing for your art. Although acrylic is more expensive than glass, we use it because it offers superior UV protection, protects your art art during shipping, is lightweight, and is beautifully clear.

Once your frame is finished and all pieces are assembled, we seal the back with custom kraft paper. This keeps dust and debris away from your work, which is vital for preservation. We love the way it looks, too.

We include hanging hardware that’s appropriate for the size of your finished art on the back of each frame. If the longest side of your frame is under 12”, you’ll get a sawtooth hanger; between 12” and 32”, you’ll get a hanging wire; over 32”, you’ll get corner brackets (which make hanging large works incredibly simple!). Don’t worry, we’ll also send the hardware to hang your piece on the wall—all you’ll need is a hammer.

If you choose to upload your art, we’ll print it on Epson Premium Lustre or Enhanced Matte paper using archival inks. We validate the resolution of your piece during upload and we double (and triple!) check every file we receive, so you can be confident it will look great when it’s printed.
We want you to love your framed piece. If, for any reason, you aren’t 100% happy with your order, let us know and we’ll make it right.
