For Housing Works’ annual shopping event benefitting their efforts to provide housing and healthcare for all, we collaborated with top interior designers to frame their selected art and objects for their curated vignettes.

Isabel Ladd's tip: “I love layering framed art over wallpaper in a small space, especially using frames and mats that are busy together. With the right mix of colors, proportions, textures, and pieces, a curated moment of beauty emerges.”

Nick Olsen's tip: "I think the biggest mistake is using the same simple frame for every piece in a small room. I prefer a variety of profiles and finishes with crisp mats. Also, when every piece in a small space is behind glass it can feel a little flat. I love the texture of oil paintings and collages alongside modern photos in quirky frames."

Roxy Owen's Tip: "In small spaces, thoughtful framing and scale can actually make all the difference! Contrary to instinct, choosing a slightly larger piece can actually open up a room, making it feel more expansive. Also, the right frame can act like a window – it draws the eye in and acts as a focal point in the space.”
