We tapped our friends at Shoott for their tips for getting frame-worthy shots this spring. Read on for their best advice.

1: Ideal Times of Day to Book Your Session

Spring is the ideal season for a photoshoot. The weather is mild, the scenery is colorful and vibrant, and the natural light is soft and flattering. The best times of day for a spring photoshoot are early morning and late afternoon. This is when the light is most flattering and the colors are the most vibrant. Avoid shooting in the middle of the day, when the light is harsh and unflattering.

2: What to Pack

Pack and prepare the day before your session. We recommend bringing any props or accessories you want to use, extra makeup or emergency items like safety pins, tissues, and Tide pens. It's also a good idea to bring a change of clothes (particularly if you have little ones!) in case you need to switch outfits during the shoot.

3: What to Wear

When it comes to spring photoshoots, pastels and soft colors work best. Avoid wearing bright, bold colors that can clash with the scenery. Coordinate your outfit with your surroundings, and choose clothes that make you feel comfortable and confident. Don't forget to accessorize with hats, scarves, or jewelry to add some extra flair to your look.

4: Props

Props can add an extra layer of interest to your photos. Consider bringing items like blankets, umbrellas, balloons, or flowers to incorporate into your shoot. Be creative and use props that reflect your personality, style or any announcements of milestones you’d like to celebrate.

5: Working with Pets

If you plan to include your furry friend in the photoshoot, make sure to bring plenty of treats and toys to keep them occupied. It's also a good idea to have someone else on hand to help wrangle your pet and keep them under control during the shoot. Don't forget to take breaks for water and potty breaks!

6: How to Pose

When posing for photos, try to relax and have fun. Don't be afraid to move around and try different poses until you find what feels comfortable and flattering. If you're not sure how to pose, look for inspiration online or ask your photographer for guidance. It also never hurts to practice poses in front of a mirror.

Take advantage of spring's scenery for your engagement photos, maternity pictures, family portraits, or just-because photos.
